The members of the Neighborhood Watch Group (NWG) in the various barangays recently took oath as part of the program aimed to strengthen the safety and security of La Trinidad. Mayor Roderick Awingan led the oathtaking together with La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Chief Lt./Col. Zacarias Caloy Dausen, the different barangay captains and NWG focal person Hilda Obar.

Barangay Tawang led by Punong Barangay Julius Tiyap took their oath on June 18 with 46 members, Lubas led by PB Milagros Familan took oath on June 19 with 44 members and Bineng led by PB Dixon Wakat took oath on June 23 with 17 members.

The program was relaunched last year and based from the 2018 ordinance authored by the mayor when he was a councilor, called the "Neighborhood Watch Program", which is a community-police partnership where the public directly coordinates with barangay officials and the police in combating crime and ensuring peace and order in their neighborhood.

Obar said the oathtaking of NWG members from other barangays will soon follow.
