In a display of appreciation, the municipal government honored 18 advocacy partners during the 1st Equality Night on June 24, at the municipal gymnasium.

The following sectors and organizations were awarded for their significant contributions to championing social equity and public health:

• La Trinidad People’s Council

In his solidarity message, Darwin Babon, HIV Program Coordinator of DOH-CAR, lauded the municipal government for establishing a legislation-based program that uplifts the marginalized.

Municipal Councilors Teddy Walang and Tyrone Diaz, shared that while the ordinance was only approved earlier this year, the entire LGU was fully committed to pushing through with its inaugural implementation this week, expressing their continued support for inclusivity.

Reigning Miss Trans Global Philippines, Kyra Isabelle Antonio also stood in solidarity, gracing the evening’s event.

Adding to the excitement, the audience was treated to a mini-fashion show featuring Badbado Benguet, a local brand showcasing a fusion of traditional Cordilleran textiles and modern silhouettes.

Mayor Roderick Awingan reaffirmed the local government’s dedication to creating a safe, inclusive and zero-discrimination environment for all residents of La Trinidad.

In closing, Municipal Councilor Belmer Elis, author of Municipal Ordinance No. 2-2026, institutionalizing the La Trinidad Equality Expo, extended his deepest gratitude to all partners and stakeholders, emphasizing that the activities will remain funded for years under the Gender and Development Fund.
