𝗢𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

The local government unit of La Trinidad, Benguet led by Mayor Roderick Awingan together with some Sangguniang Bayan officials led by Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan attended in full force the meeting with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Cordillera Director Paquito Moreno and his personnel on June 24 at the Travelite Hotel, Legarda, Baguio City to discuss the turnover of the management of the various communal forests to the LGU.

Awingan thanked the DENR-CAR for responding to their invitation and said the meeting is only the start of a series of meetings to iron out the needed requirements for the turnover.

Moreno said with the turnover, the forest management will be passed on to the LGU, but the DENR will still maintain its monitoring on the various communal forests in barangays Shilan, Puguis, Alapang and Alno.

Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Arthur Pedro and Municipal Legal Officer Atty. Victor Singa, Jr. also discussed with the DENR-CAR personnel updates on the issues and concerns of the municipality in relation to the communal forests, particularly on the ongoing case in Shilan and at the Puguis communal forest.

The respective barangay captains and representatives of the different communal forests of the municipality were also present during the meeting.
