The sixteen barangays of La Trinidad, along with the Women’s Brigade and Anahaw Group, joined the Neighborhood Watch Program Convention and Anti-Illegal Drugs Summit held yesterday at the municipal gymnasium.

According to LT Police Chief Zacarias Caloy Dausen, the event aims to: 1) Prevent further illegal drug abuse and educate families and the youth, 2) Promote community safety and collaboration, and 3) Foster compassionate support and recovery.

Mayor Roderick Awingan also emphasized that the Neighborhood Watch Program reinforces the relationship between the LGU at both the municipal and barangay levels and the communities.

Discussions centered on the duties and functions of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), Barangay Drug Clearing Program, Salient Provisions of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and the Ill Effects of Illegal Drugs.

PLtCol. Baldwin Sokoken Jr., Deputy City Director for Administration of the Baguio City Police Office, represented PCol. Lambert Suerte, Provincial Director of the Benguet Provincial Police Office.

Former LT Police Chief Jeoffer Banglayan was also present to take part in the event.
