𝗜𝗣𝘀 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧-𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗜𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗙𝗔𝗗

Thirty-seven IP representatives donned their best tapis and ethnic attire as the pioneering batch of the Indigenous Cultural Community Official For-A-Day (ICCOFAD) this morning at the municipal gymnasium in celebration of the Indigenous Peoples’ Month.

“The presence of each indigenous person here is already an indication of strength”, articulated Acting Mayor Guiller Galwan. “So enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience how the municipal government runs, which I hope will ignite the fire within you for public service”.

Municipal Councilor-Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative, Richard Wacnisen, explained that the selection process was patterned after how our elders chose leaders in the past; thus, the drawing of lots determined who would sit as officials and department heads.

The Sangguniang Bayan ICCOFAD also crafted seventeen resolutions, which are endorsed to the Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan for appropriate action.

Acting Vice Mayor Nestor Fongwan Jr., in his closing remarks, underscored the event’s historic first, marking it as the first not only in the Cordillera but in the entire country.
