𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲

Various offices and agencies met with the municipal local government of La Trinidad as facilitated by Administrator Franco Bawang, Jr. to tackle the ongoing case of illegal dog meat trade in the municipality on July 20.

Personnel from the Department of Trade and Industry-Benguet, Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office Cordillera, Baguio City Veterinary and Agriculture Office, La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, National Meat Inspection Service-Cordillera represented by Janet Chaluyen and Roseller Manalo, CIDG-Benguet led by its head Lt.Col. Loyd Oribillo attended the consultation, along with the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist led by Nida Organo and the Municipal Legal Officer Atty. Victor Singa.

Atty. Amadeo Degay, who earlier filed complaints against two restaurants particularly in barangay Wangal and barangay Población for allegedly serving dog meat, was also present during the consultation.

Due to the cases filed by Degay, a show-cause order was given to the restaurant owners last July 17. Atty. Singa said the owners were given until July 22 to reply to the order.

As ways forward, Atty. Bawang said the municipal LGU is set to conduct benchmarking in the city government of Baguio to assist the town in crafting an ordinance or executive order for the creation of a task force to implement the law against illegal dog meat trade in the locality.
