In the pursuit of empowering the women of La Trinidad, hundreds from all walks of life gathered at the municipal gym for the “Kalusugang Pangkababaihan Caravan” and the ‘Buntis Congress’ earlier today, March 24.

The event offered a wide array of free medical services, such as:

  • Screenings: Random Blood Sugar (RBS), Cholesterol, Blood Uric Acid, Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), and Eye Screening

  • Diagnostics and Consultations: Chest X-Ray, Ultrasound, Dental Check-Up, Body Mass Index (BMI) Assessment with Nutrition Counseling, and HIV Screening

  • Family Support and Wellness: Family Planning Services, empanelment to the YAKAP

Facility, Pampering activities for expectant mothers, and Child Basic Life Support (BLS) orientations

Mayor Roderick Awingan, in his message, urged participants to take full advantage of these resources, noting that they are not only free but a privilege. “The town offers a multitude of programs on health, livelihood, and social services for women. As leaders, we are inspired when constituents benefit from LGU initiatives,” he stated.

Dr. Antonette Agpas, Municipal Health Officer, welcomed the attendees and emphasized the significance of proactive self-care.

Following this, Dr. Arlyn Namoro, Family Health Cluster Head, gave a brief background of the program, stating that it aims to attain safe prenatal care, reduce child mortality, and invest in the “First 1,000 Days” of a child’s life.

Moreover, Dr. Genevieve Wagang-Degay, Non-Communicable Disease Cluster Head, provided a briefing on Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Cervical Cancer, touching on its effects and prevention.

In the afternoon, six lovely ladies competed in the ‘Buntis Got Talent’, proving that pregnancy is neither a disability nor a barrier to showcasing one’s skill.

As a token of appreciation, the first 100 pregnant women also received free ‘Buntis Kits’ containing vital maternal care items, including vitamins and supplements.
