The municipal government of La Trinidad, Benguet celebrates a 10 decade of life as
Mayor Roderick C. Awingan together with Ireneo Alfaro of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office-Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs awarded the P100,000.00 cash incentive to centenarian Anna Kantala Baso of Barangay Tawang.
Due to weak knees, Mrs. Baso was not able to get her reward in person but was represented by her eldest daughter, Teresita Coilan Sagandoy and family members.
The 77-year old, Sagandoy, said that her mother still has a sharp memory and remembers people's names despite her age.
"She does not eat a lot of fatty foods and prefers fruits and vegetables, and would always remember to drink her maintenance more than I do sometimes," she said when asked of the secret to her mother's age.
The incentive is based on the Centenarian Act of 2016 which provides a one-time cash gift of P100,000 to Filipino centenarians who have reached the age of 100 to recognize their longevity and contributions to society.
