The Local Government Unit of La Trinidad received one (1) unit Modular Rainwater Collection System from the Department of Science and Technology โ Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) on May 11, 2026.
Mayor Roderick Chiok Awingan, together with MPDO staff and SSCP Coordinator, Ms. Sally Nabus and MENRO staff, Mr. Arthur A. Pedro & Ms. Angelica Tinoyan, attended the turnover ceremony at KM STICA, DOST-ITDI, Taguig City. The team was joined by partners from DOST-PSTO Benguet, led by Provincial S&T Director, Dr. Sheila Marie Singa-Claver.
The turnover is part of the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), DOSTโs flagship initiative to transform LGUs into resilient, technology-driven communities. La Trinidad is one of the program's recipients in Benguet Province.
The system will be installed at the Alno Solid Waste Management Facility to provide a sustainable water source for domestic use and to support operations particularly at the Composting facility.
The LGU delegation was welcomed by DOST-ITDI officials led by Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones; Deputy Director for Administrative and Technical Services, Dr. Janet F. Quizon; and OIC for the Office of the Deputy Director for Research and Development, Dr. Marianito T. Margarito.
