Mayor Roderick Awingan, together with Bakun Mayor Fausto Labinio, Atok Mayor Franklin Smith, Buguias Mayor Julius Amos, Mankayan Mayor Cesar Pasiwen, and Kibungan Mayor Agustin Tello, met with DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon to discuss urgent infrastructure needs. The local leaders presented their respective priority and emergency projects to secure support from the national government.

For La Trinidad, Mayor Awingan raised key concerns including the perennial flooding in the valley, the restoration of the eroded road section in Beckel, and emergency public safety measures. For the other Benguet municipalities, the mayors collectively requested the urgent restoration of the Km. 26 portion of the Halsema Highway, a vital transportation and agricultural route for the province.

The productive meeting was made possible through the facilitation of Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, who helped coordinate the dialogue between the Benguet local chief executives and the DPWH leadership.

Secretary Dizon expressed full support for the proposals and immediately directed ARD Jojo Melgar to fast-track the necessary repairs and review La Trinidad's flood control interventions. He also noted that the road safety measures to be implemented in the municipality could serve as a model for the entire nation.
