The local government of La Trinidad formally honored Denesia Esnara today, February 9, for her bronze-medal finish in Para Powerlifting during the recently concluded 13th ASEAN Para Games.

Competing in the city of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, last January 20-26, Esnara secured her place on the podium for successfully lifting 73 kilograms in the women’s 55kg category.

Mayor Roderick Awingan, Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan and the rest of the Sangguniang Bayan presented a resolution of commendation for her stellar performance.

Moreover, the resolution confirms that Esnara’s achievements qualify her as a special awardee during La Trinidad’s Foundation Day this July.

A solo parent to two, Esnara advocates for the empowerment of fellow persons with disabilities, β€œHan da kuma ibain o lalaeng-en ti bagi da. Mamingsan dagijay parents wennu kapamilya ibabain da ti PWD nga anak da sunga awan ti exposure da. Isunga kailangan ada ti showcase tapnu maipakita ti kaya tayo,” she encouraged.

Esnara reminded the community to shift their focus from limitations to potential, stating that we should spend our energy on what we can do rather than what we can’t.

She also acknowledges that while financial aid is vital, her primary strength and inspiration comes from her faith.

The medalist conveyed her appreciation to the municipal government of La Trinidad, the Benguet Provincial Office and the Philippine Sports Commission for their support throughout her journey.
