With the goal of uplifting the lives of indigent solo parents in La Trinidad, the local government officially released the first tranche of financial relief today, June 30, distributing a total of β±444,600 to 247 beneficiaries at the municipal gymnasium.
Each solo parent received a total of β±1,800 for the quarter, equivalent to β±600 for each month.
Under the programβs timeline, the monthly stipend is set to increase to β±800 in 2029, and β±1,000 by 2030.
βWe hope you remember the intention of the LGUβs programs to provide genuine service to vulnerable groups, such as yourselves, and not only the amount of financial support you have received,β Mayor Roderick Awingan said, affirming inclusion as a top priority of the administration.
With an allotted total budget of β±2.5 million for 2026, the next tranche of payouts are scheduled for September and December later this year.
According to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), there are currently 497 registered solo parents in La Trinidad.
To identify those most in need, all applicants went through the process of document submission and interviews with social workers.
Before the distribution today, Social Worker and Program Focal Jovelyn Bon-as briefly summarized the duties and responsibilities of solo parents, providing an avenue for community dialogue.
Councilors Teddy Walang and Bartolome Baldas Jr. authored Municipal Ordinance No. 4-2025 which formalizes social welfare benefits and privileges to solo parents in La Trinidad.
This legislation localizes the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2022 (RA 11861).
