The local government of La Trinidad will officially transition to a four-day compressed work week on March 16, 2026.

This complies with MalacaΓ±ang Palace Memorandum Circular No. 114, mandating all government agencies to adopt strict energy conservation protocols and aligns with similar measures implemented by the Benguet Provincial Office.

Under Memorandum 92 s. 2026 and Executive Order No. 34 s. of 2026, all offices and departments will operate on a Monday to Thursday schedule from 7AM to 7PM.

This maintains the 40-hour work week and ensures continuous public service in La Trinidad.

Moreover, the following offices providing critical services will implement a two-team duty schedule from Monday to Friday:

  • Health Services Office

  • Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office

  • Social Welfare and Development Office

Additionally, salary and benefits will not be affected as long as the 40 working hours are completed and biometric attendance is strictly observed.

Alongside the adjusted schedule, the LGU will observe necessary energy conservation measures under the following:

Electricity

  • Maximize the use of natural lighting and ensure all lights are turned off in vacant rooms.

  • Replace conventional bulbs with LED when applicable.

  • Avoid unnecessary decorative lighting in offices and facilities.

  • Activate Sleep Mode on computers and equipment when not in use.

  • Air-conditioning units are discouraged unless essential.

  • Shut down and unplug all computers, printers, and other appliances after office hours.

Fuel and Vehicle Management

  • Carpooling on official trips among employees is strongly encouraged.

Patient Transport

  • As a general rule, requests for patient transports using municipal vehicles require the requesting party to shoulder the corresponding fuel expenses and other incidental costs.

  • Cadaver transport services may be allowed in cases where the deceased or the bereaved family is indigent, financially incapable, or in urgent need of assistance, subject to assessment of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

Driver Operating Guidelines

  • Utilize the shortest and least congested routes.

  • Avoid unauthorized side trips unless included in the approved travel itinerary.

  • Switch off vehicle engines during waiting periods.

  • Maintain accurate fuel consumption records, including odometer readings.

  • Ensure regular preventive maintenance of assigned vehicles.

Digital Government Initiatives

  • Conduct virtual meetings whenever necessary.

  • Utilize electronic communication and digital document routing systems.

  • Promote paperless transactions.

Energy Conservation Management

  • The local government is currently designating an Energy Conservation Officer to monitor consumption, prepare reports, and conduct conservation awareness activities.
