In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, NGOs The Joy of Giving-Batangas and Bangads Philippines have teamed up to donate classroom materials to far-flung schools in Benguet.

During a courtesy visit to Mayor Roderick Awingan, earlier today, May 14, the organizers shared that the program aims to “pay it forward” as Benguet, particularly La Trinidad, played an instrumental role in transporting vegetable donations to Batangas as relief during the 2020 Taal Volcano eruption.

The eruption caused massive evacuation, and severe infrastructure damage, affecting CALABARZON, Metro Manila, and parts of Central Luzon and Ilocos Region.

In response, farmers and traders donated 30,000kgs of assorted vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, and potatoes which were brought to outreach centers in Lipa and Ibaan.

Because of this, the teams are in town to personally return the kindness.

Having completed their mission in Kabayan, the group is set to visit Balukas Elementary School located in barangay Shilan tomorrow, May 15 before proceeding to schools in Kapangan.
