𝟱𝟴𝟮 𝗟𝗧 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗨𝗣𝗔𝗗

The first batch of farmer beneficiaries of the TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers), with majority coming from the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post and the Benguet Agri-Pinoy Trading Center, underwent orientation during the launching of the program on July 21 at the Benguet Sports Complex multipurpose gym in Wangal, La Trinidad.

DOLE-Cordillera led by Director Imelda Romanillos and the Department of Agriculture- Cordillera led by Director Jennilyn Dawayan and Mayor Roderick Awingan signed the memorandum of agreement for the implementation of the program that benefits 582 farmers that includes surrounding barangays of the vegetable trading areas.

The beneficiaries shall work for 15 days in cleaning the creeks and waterways, among others of their respective workplaces and barangays, and shall receive P7,575.00 after performing their tasks.

The farmer beneficiaries chosen from La Trinidad are those listed under the RSBSA (Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture), which catalogs farmers, fisherfolk, and farm laborers to serve as the official targeting mechanism for government subsidies, agricultural loans, and subsidized farm inputs.

Romanillos said they will be conducting other TUPAD payout in other provinces of the region for those farmers, fisherfolks and logistics/transport workers who were heavily affected by the energy crisis.

The mayor thanked the DOLE and the DA for their assistance in facilitating the financial support to the municipality’s farmers.
