A coordination meeting was held in the morning of August 7, 2026 between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR), the Local Government Unit of La Trinidad, and Barangay Shilan.

During the meeting, at Shilan Barangay Hall, the discussion focused on the recommended cutting of some trees located above the landslide site in Shilan, where two people died and one was injured. The trees were identified as potential hazards to the area.

DENR-CAR Regional Executive Director Paquito Moreno, Jr. conveyed to Mayor Roderick Awingan the recommendation of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau for the temporary evacuation of some residents living near the landslide site during typhoons and periods of heavy rainfall to ensure their safety.

Present also during the meeting were the officials of Barangay Shilan led by Barangay Chairman Melecio Orid, DENR-CAR Chief Enforcement Division Atty. Charinne Abalos, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) designate Arthur Pedro, CENRO Engr. Leandro De Jesus, and representatives from MGB-CAR.

Following the meeting, personnel from MENRO and DENR proceeded to cut the four pine trees at the site as a precautionary measure.
