𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗡𝗣 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹

Police Capt. Jethro A. Sab-it earlier made a courtesy call to mayor Roderick Awingan on July 3 with his family, to present his achievement to the municipal government.

Sab-it graduated with flying colors as top 1 of the Class 2023 of the Philippine National Police Basic Helicopter Pilot Training (BHPT), among 13 others who were recognized at the closing ceremony on June 22 at the PNP Air Unit Hangar, General Aviation Area, Manila Domestic Airport, Pasay City.

The BHPT Class 2023 went through a rigorous 228-hour program of dedicated ground schooling and aircraft training, as well as doing office work at the unit hangar.

"At first, it's frightening to be flying an aircraft, but once you're at the top, it feels good to be up there," Sab-it said.

He was undergoing training at the Special Action Force (SAF) when he and others from his class were ordered to attend schooling at the air unit in December 2023. After decades of inactivity, the PNP revived its basic helicopter pilot training in December 2019 to help train selected SAF air unit personnel for flying duties.

Sab-it said he has accepted the risk that comes with the job of flying an aircraft, but agreed that training and prayers should go hand in hand with the career path he is on.

The Barangay Lubas resident said after flying smaller aircrafts as part of their practice, the next would be the mission aircraft training, which would be more challenging and exciting.

But along with his excitement in his ascending career, is the excitement of meeting their child with his pregnant fiancee, Shelby Dahmey M. Sawate. The couple asked the mayor to officiate their wedding happening soon.

The PNP-SAF Air Unit is the SAF’s only technical unit, which gives air support to all PNP units during police operations, tactical operations, disaster relief, search and rescue operations, and other field and staff flight operations.
