DOST-CAR, BENGUET TURN OVER ₱2.1M TO LGU FOR COMPOSTING FACILITY

In a visit to the Mayor’s Office today, August 27, the Department of Science and Technology-CAR (DOST-CAR) and Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO)-Benguet, formally turned over ₱2,142,000 in funding to the local government.
Provided under the Smart and Sustainable Communities Program (SSCP), the grant will fund the purchase of a bioreactor and a multipurpose electric shredder for the municipal composting facility.
Mayor Roderick Awingan along with Municipal Treasurer Norman Antero and Municipal Environment and Natural Resource Officer (MENRO) Arthur Pedro accepted the check from PST Director Dr. Sheila Marie Singa-Claver.
As an ongoing partner of the program, the LGU has implemented several science and technology initiatives such as the Information System for Management and Utilization of Land and Agri-Data (iMULA) for the Agriculture Office and the installation of smart surveillance systems for the MENRO.
