Forty engineers and architects from the Municipal Engineering Office, Office of the Building Official, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Assessors Office, United Architects of the Philippines, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and Benguet State University- College of Engineering attended the ongoing two-day seminar on Infrastructure Audit Training on June 29 to 30 at the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant in Betag, La Trinidad.

Staff from the Department of the Interior Local Government (DILG) namely Ivan Ley Dalay-on of DILG-Benguet, and Shaquile Buraga and Mark Andrew Lopez from the DILG-Cordillera are facilitating the infrastructure audit program with its tools and procedures, as well as facilitate the workshop and creation of an action plan from the participants.

Mayor Roderick Awingan urged the participants, who will make up the local infrastructure audit team, to update their skills via the training to make sure that the municipality will have sound and safe infrastructures.

The municipality is the first in the Cordillera to conduct an LGU-led training on the infrastructure audit, a program by the DILG that will help local government units standardize assessments and identify vulnerabilities in their infrastructures.
