Mayor Roderick Awingan spearheaded a dialogue with residents of Sitio Jappa, Barangay Shilan, on Wednesday morning to address concerns regarding the continuous passage of heavy trucks and their impact on the area's road network.

The meeting was attended by barangay officials, residents, municipal personnel, and representatives of a construction firm operating within the area.

During the discussion, residents raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of the road, citing the regular movement of heavy vehicles as a contributing factor. They emphasized the need to protect the roadway to ensure the safety of motorists, commuters, and the community.

As an initial measure, stakeholders agreed to limit the capacity of trucks allowed to enter Sitio Jappa to help prevent further road damage while allowing ongoing development projects to continue responsibly.

Residents likewise called on the construction firm to implement measures that would minimize the impact of its operations and contribute to addressing the road concerns affecting the community.

Mayor Awingan underscored the importance of balancing development with the welfare and safety of residents. He announced that an Executive Order will be issued to regulate the entry of heavy trucks into Sitio Jappa, including vehicles transporting construction materials for ongoing projects in the area.

Meanwhile, the Barangay Council of Shilan is set to draft an ordinance establishing guidelines and restrictions governing the entry of heavy vehicles into the sitio.

The dialogue highlighted the value of cooperation among residents, local officials, and the private sector in finding practical and sustainable solutions to community concerns.
