Celebrating the theme, β€œHindi ka nag-iisa sa iyong Pagiisa: Yakap at Kalinga para sa Solo Parent”, over 200 individuals attended day one of the annual Solo Parents General Assembly at the municipal gymnasium today, July 20, 2026.

Mayor Roderick Awingan opened the gathering by affirming that the municipal government persistently aspires to enhance its social welfare services and support systems for single parents.

To begin the plenary sessions, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) invited DSWD-CAR Solo Parent Focal Person Mary Joy Lamenta-Butag to discuss the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act (RA 11861).

While Program Coordinator Russel Albano of Lingap Pangkabataan Inc., a non-government, faith-based development agency, gave a brief overview of their programs and services.

Additionally, MDRRMO’s very own Engr. Felipe Esnara provided insight on the Gender and Development (GAD) approach in daily life.

Homemade products are also on display at the venue, along with free services offered to the participants.

The summit will continue tomorrow with sessions on data privacy, livelihood opportunities, financial literacy, and accessible psychological support for parents.

To close the two-day event, the La Trinidad Solo Parents Association (LaTSoPA) will present the organization’s recent accomplishments, address urgent concerns, and outline ways forward.
