Solidifying La Trinidad’s standing as a hub for athletic prodigies, five local Muay Thai Boran medalists and their coach, Brendalyn Tarnate, made an official visit to Mayor Roderick Awingan and Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan on August 24 at the municipal hall.

The team brought home seven medals: two golds, four silvers, and one bronze across various categories during the Siamyout Global Heritage Muay Thai Series held in Samut Songkhram, Thailand, from August 8 to 12, 2026.

Two fighters are set to compete in local bouts this coming September and October.

Additionally, coach Tarnate is among the pioneer athletes who introduced Muay Thai Boran to the Philippines in 2007, establishing the first headquarters in La Trinidad.

Today, that legacy lives on through the NakMuay El Rimando Camp located in Balili, Km. 5.

The local delegation also extended its appreciation to the Oriental Muay Boran Academy in Manila for its ongoing support.

The individual distinctions are as follows:

• Erexter Taligan

Gold - Wai Kru Doubles

Silver - Pro-Am Muay Thai

• Michael Rimando

Gold - Wai Kru Doubles

Silver - Professional Combat (70kg)

• Alester Tagure

Silver - Professional Combat (57kg)

• Jonard Apa-an

Silver - Amateur Combat (51kg)

Bronze - Wai Kru Single
