Mayor Roderick Awingan met with Benguet 1st District Engineering Office OIC Teofilo Ramirez, Jr. on July 27 to follow up on various requests of the municipality, with the latest on the installation of corrective measures on the slippery overpass at the Km. 5 intersection.
Ramirez and his staff said they are currently coordinating with the contractor to install anti-slip strip for the stairs. Also, he said he will be directing the office’s planning department for the possible construction of shed on the stairs.
Regarding the construction of the damaged section of the Lamut-Beckel portion of the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, Ramirez said they are undergoing technical evaluation, in coordination with a third party geotechnical engineering company, that would study the foundation of the road prior to conducting full blast construction.
On the halted batching plant at Sitio Busi in Barangay Beckel, Ramirez said they are monitoring the area as to the conformity of the lot owner to the commitments stated in his undertaking with the EMB-Cordillera and with the MLGU’s Inter Agency Monitoring Team to rehabilitate the damaged road and strengthen the retaining wall and other mitigating measures needed in the area.
Other issues and concerns of the municipality were also discussed during their brief talk.
