HUDDLE FOR BOLO CREEK

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is prioritizing a highly engineered approach to solve the flooding of the Bolo Creek that perennially swamps the La Trinidad strawberry farm.

DPWH engineers led by Editha Barbaran, DPWH Cordillera regional director, and Teofilo Ramirez, district engineer of the Benguet First District Engineering Office, explained to Mayor Roderick Awingan yesterday morning the best options to increase the intake of the Bolo Creek and hasten its gradient subsidence given the volume of rainfall that is often exceptionally high.

Engr. Arnold Dacwag, chief of the DPWH region’s planning and design division, said the department’s master plan will provide the detailed framework of the feasible solutions.

Awingan urged the agency to expedite its flood mitigation efforts to protect the livelihood of the strawberry farmers.
