ISSUES OF THE FAMILY BECOMES ISSUES OF THE COMMUNITY

Mayor Roderick Awingan encouraged the various Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL) focal persons in the barangays to help in strengthening the program geared towards rehabilitating CICL and children at risk during their consultation meeting on July 28 at the Rose Hall of the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant.

The meeting included the discussion of the Republic Act 9344 as amended or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act and the mayor's executive order no. 77-2026 which establishes the CICL and children at risk (CAR) desk in the municipality and mandating the designation of CICL/CAR focal persons in every barangay.

"We are managing our children in conflict with the law and children at risk because we want them to become productive children of the community," Awingan said.

He urged the focal persons to help in strengthening the program not only focusing on the children but to manage their parents and families as well. Thus, the burden not only lies on the CICL/CAR focal persons but to all of the community members, because the issues of the family affects the whole of the community.

The mayor committed to support the program and assured the focal persons of assistance from the municipal government in coordination with their respective barangay LGUs. The Municipal Social Welfare Office led the consultation meeting, also attended by the representative from the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station.
