In a bid to promote the consumption of vegetable in homes, the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (Omag La Trinidad-Benguet) recently spearheaded a training for children with parents on growing fresh greens through hydroponics in Lubas Elementary School in Barangay Lubas.

Fifty elementary pupils with their respective parent participated during the one-day event on September 5 where they had a workshop on soilless vegetable production. Each pair of parent-child participant received one unit of hydroponic set with start up vegetable seeds during the activity.

Mary Ann Wayet of OMAG said hydroponics was taught to the participants since most households don't have a large area to plant vegetables and only a small space is needed to plant the soilless vegetables. Executive Assistant Delmar Cariño encouraged the participants to practice what they learned from the workshop back in their homes, where the parents could teach their children the importance of skill and eating from the fruit of their labor.

Barangay Captain Milagros Familan and Lubas Elementary School Principal Esther Rizaldo also attended the event.
