LA TRINIDAD LAUNCHES THIRD OTOP HUB

As a way to showcase La Trinidad’s finest local goods and handmade products, a new One Town, One Product (OTOP) store was formally inaugurated on August 18 at the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant.

As the third of its kind in the municipality, the event gathered local officials, including DTI-Benguet Provincial Director Felicitas Bandonill, alongside Councilors Nestor Fongwan Jr. and Belmer Elis, Municipal Administrator Atty. Franco Bawang Jr., Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño and Municipal Agriculturist Nida Organo.

A memorandum of agreement was also signed, renewing the partnership between DTI-Benguet and the municipal government to further capacitate local Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“The growth of MSMEs is a key indicator of grassroots economic development,” stated Councilor Fongwan Jr., Committee Chair on Trade and Industry, and Labor and Livelihood.

Meanwhile, Councilor Elis, Chair of the Committee on Tourism and Special Events, mentioned that the La Trinidad OTOP Ordinance is in the works and will adopt the phrase, “Kalidad La Trinidad” as its official tagline.

The town’s other OTOP hubs are located in Kai Cafe in Km. 4 and the Negosyo Center at the Old Public Market.
