Earlier today, June 10, staff from the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), DTI-Benguet, and the LGU’s own market supervisors and police officers visited numerous rice vendors within the municipality.
This is in connection with the national Executive Order No. 118 s. 2026, imposing a ₱50-per-kilogram price ceiling on imported premium rice (5% broken).
With Regional Technical Director for Operations Danilo Daguio personally leading the task force, the team inspected the La Trinidad Public Market rice section, a grocery store in Km. 6 and shops located in barangays Pico and Puguis.
Moreover, BPI personnel collected rice samples for analysis to ensure food safety and quality.
The assessments will continue tomorrow, June 11.
