Mayor Roderick Awingan and MDRRM Officer Yoshio Labi led a hazard assessment meeting on the Mamaga Creek waterfalls on August 5 at the Conference Hall.
Located in barangay Ambiong, close to the border with barangay Lubas, the site poses a safety risk due to a nearby sinkhole that compromises its stability.
The group agreed to secure the necessary permits from DENR, legally allowing the LGU to disturb the land and place a fence and warning signs to ward off the public from swimming or accessing the body of water.
Also participating in the meeting were Municipal Administrator Atty. Franco Bawang Jr., Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño, Ambiong Punong Barangay Frederick Tao-ing, Lubas Punong Barangay Milagros Familan and representatives of concerned offices.
