Mayor Roderick Awingan conducted an inspection of key areas across the valley to assess existing infrastructure conditions and identify immediate interventions in response to urban challenges and in preparation for the anticipated effects of El Niño.

During the inspection, the Mayor instructed Municipal Engineer Benedict Pineda to immediately prepare the necessary work plans and programs for the repair of the flood gates along Toyong and Strawberry Farm Creek, the repair of the trash trap protecting the Dinog water source, and other infrastructure interventions.

He likewise directed MDRRMO Head Yoshio Labi to strengthen disaster risk reduction and preparedness measures, particularly in anticipation of potential weather and climate-related impacts. Senior Agriculturist Jay Sano was also instructed to expedite interventions for water conservation and agricultural preparedness to help protect crops and livelihoods during the anticipated dry conditions.

The inspection was accompanied by Tourism Officer Valred Olsim and POST Head Roger Angel, as the assessment also covered ongoing and proposed roadside beautification and public-space improvement initiatives. These include efforts to utilize idle spaces for side walks and pocket parks, improve the visual character of major road corridors, and replace the La Trinidad Welcome Arc, among other interventions.

The inspection forms part of the Municipality’s continuing efforts to address immediate infrastructure and environmental concerns while advancing long-term improvements in disaster resilience, water security, agriculture, and the overall urban lan

dscape of La Trinidad.
