MAYOR PRESENTS VALLEY FLOODING WOES AT RDC-CORDILLERA'S INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE

Prior to the walk through of the DPWH and the municipal local government at the Bolo Creek and Strawberry Farm on the afternoon of August 19, Mayor Roderick Awingan and Municipal Engineer Benedict Pineda attended the Infrastructure Development Committee (InfraCom) meeting of the Regional Development Council-Cordillera Administrative Region (RDC-CAR) earlier that day at the DPWH-CAR office.

Awingan presented the perennial flooding problem of the valley at the Strawberry Farm and the Bolo Creek during heavy rains that needs immediate solution to the members of the InfraCom, who attended the meeting online and in-person.

He said the flooding at the municipality of La Trinidad affects the whole of the region, because it is where some of the regional offices are located, aside from being adjacent to Baguio City.

Former mayor Edna Tabanda, private sector representative, backed the presentation of the mayor speaking of her previous experiences and the previous solutions implemented at the area.

DPWH-Cordillera Director Editha Babaran, chairperson of the InfraCom, said the agency had a run down of the situation and said the DPWH- CAR is already coordinating with its central office for a possible intervention of the flood-prone area of the valley.
