ON THE GO

Mayor Roderick Awingan made sure his Monday morning was used to the hilt by actively connecting with local stakeholders and visitors. He first graced the 90th Anniversary Celebration of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) held at Benguet State University (BSU). There, he exchanged notes with Maximo Alexis Tan, OVP satellite lead officer, Ma. Katrina Viray, a member of the OVP Pangasinan satellite office, and Dr. Kenneth Laruan, BSU president.
Following the BSU event, Mayor Awingan proceeded to the Alapang Barangay Hall to induct the new members of the barangay’s Neighborhood Watch Program. He encouraged the group to be active citizens and serve as frontliners in monitoring, reporting emergencies, and requesting assistance.
"When you directly coordinate with the police, MSWDO, MDRRMO, and other authorities, you develop a culture of helping one another without relying too much on the LGU," he emphasized.
The Mayor then capped off his morning at the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant, where he commended the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for conducting a training session on AI and modern branding platforms.
He noted that the workshop, titled Spark: Graphic Design Using Canva, proves that today’s generational direction is shifting toward AI adoption—a technological advancement the community cannot and must not ignore.
