ORIENTATION ON SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD PROGRAM

In an effort to advance self-employment and promote MSMEs, forty budding entrepreneurs were oriented on DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on July 29 at the Lednicky Hall.

Composed of solo parents, PWDs, and students, the group underwent eligibility assessment and profiling where vulnerability and income will serve as a basis for qualification.

“We are grateful for the collaboration with DSWD-Social Welfare and Development Benguet because it means we are able to give more to our constituents,” mayor Roderick Awingan said, underscoring that strong inter-agency ties lead to more efficient public service.

Qualified individuals can receive up to ₱20,000 while organizations may be granted a maximum of ₱30,000 as a jumpstart seed fund.

However, Project Development Officer II Joel Vicente clarified that the program prioritizes capacity building which will include microenterprise development and financial literacy training for beneficiaries.

The participants’ output for the day was to create business proposals to be submitted along with their documents for further validation.
