PARENTS AND LEARNERS OF BINENG DAYCARE CENTER GAIN COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH LITERACY BEYOND ORAL CARE
LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET — Expanding its grassroots healthcare delivery, the La Trinidad Municipal Health Services Office (MHSO), in partnership with Barangay Bineng, rendered targeted dental services and integrated health education for daycare learners and their parents on October 6, 2026, at the Senior Citizens Conference Hall in Barangay Bineng.
While primary dental care was provided to the young learners, the activity served as a holistic health forum for attending parents and caregivers, featuring lectures from frontline health personnel and academic partners:
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬: 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐞𝐢𝐧 𝐙𝐲𝐫𝐚 𝐃. 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐓. 𝐀𝐥𝐬𝐚𝐞𝐧 (Midwifery Students, Cordillera Career Development College) demonstrated step-by-step hand hygiene practices to prevent common pediatric infections.
𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠: 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐁. 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐨 (𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐈𝐈) discussed reproductive health choices, spousal decision-making, and the foundational nutritional benefits of maternal breastfeeding.
𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲: 𝐌𝐬. 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐂. 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐧, 𝐑𝐍 (𝐋𝐓𝐍𝐇𝐖𝐒𝐒 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞) presented the Pinggang Pinoy guide, helping parents understand balanced meal portions using affordable, locally available food groups.
𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲: 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐀. 𝐅𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫 (𝐇𝐄𝐏𝐎 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞) re-emphasized vector control methods, lecturing on the nationwide "4 o'Clock Habit" alongside the localized "4Ts Strategy" (Taob, Taktak, Tuyo, at Takip) to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐚𝐩𝐞-𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐋𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝: 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨 𝐌. 𝐀𝐛𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐉𝐫., 𝐃𝐌𝐃 (𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐈) detailed essential preventive oral hygiene routines, guiding parents on how to properly care for their children's milk teeth and maintain overall dental wellness.
Through this multi-component intervention, the LTMHSO and BLGU Bineng continue to ensure that early childhood care extends beyond clinical procedures to encompass long-term health education within the home.
