PARTNERSHIP FOR LOCAL FARMERS

Personnel from the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. (JVOFI) with Executive Director Corazon Sajonas, and Jaime V. Ongpin Microfinance Foundation, Inc (JVOMFI) Executive Director Dante Frias (seated), and JVOFI Finance Manager Alvin Bawing made a courtesy call to Mayor Roderick Awingan together with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office designate Arthur Pedro on Sept. 9 to present their project, "Enhancing sustainable vegetable production and environment stewardship through tunnel farming support" benefitting 40 farmers from Barangay Shilan.

The one year project, supported by TELUS International Philippines, aims to provide capacity-building, technical assistance, and the provision of materials for tunnel farming for the identified beneficiaries of Shilan Tour Guides Association, Inc. The foundation aims to further benefit 60 farmers and their family members through the project, enhancing crop productivity, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and strengthen farmers' capacity to adapt to environmental and production challenges.
