The Philippine Statistics Authority-Benguet recognized the active participation of the municipal local government unit of La Trinidad to the conduct of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the municipality.

PSA Benguet Chief Statistical Specialist Imelda Buyuccan, during the convening of the second municipal CBMS coordinated board on Oct. 13, thanked the MLGU for recognizing the value of the data gathered from the CBMS as a tool used not only for social services, but for planning purposes in the town.

She urged the municipality to continue explaining to the community the value of the CBMS and the need for accurate data that must also come from the residents.

"In every number we collect is a story, waiting for a service so we want a quality of data to be produced," Buyuccan said.

She also lauded the 13 municipalities of Benguet for agreeing to the conduct of the 2027 CBMS. The PSA and the municipalities will be conducting cost-sharing for the implementation of the program.

Mayor Roderick Awingan said the MLGU would continue supporting the conduct of CBMS as data is important in planning across all sectors of the community.

The nationwide synchronous 2027 CBMS aims to collect updated household-level data of every city and municipality, to support and guide evidence-based local and national development planning, and to improve the targeting of social protection program beneficiaries.
