Another group of BS Psychology students from Benguet State University handed over their undergraduate research to the Mayor’s Office last May 11, 2026, focusing on the narratives of informal carers.
With the title, “Namnama sin Ayuwan Mo: Lived Experiences of Informal Caregivers of Adults with Mental Health Disorders in La Trinidad, Benguet”, the research explores the narratives of those providing unpaid care.
Authors Alyane Jane Ablasi, Kyle Alexis Angon, Hadassah Mae Cariño, and Rodel Gayagay documented the challenges faced, coping strategies, and its effect on their overall well-being.
The results reveal a dual reality; while all caregivers encounter complex and overlapping burdens, they find solace through faith and social support from friends and family.
This necessitates the enhancement of accessible local mental health services and support groups that provide seminars on stress management and self-care.
On behalf of Mayor Roderick Awingan, Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño received the research and applauded the group’s success and their significant efforts in intensifying health programs.
