TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT BOARD CONVENES

In a bid to resolve transportation and highway problems, Mayor Roderick Awingan convened the La Trinidad Traffic Management Board (LTTMB) last July 23 at Lednicky Hall.
The board addressed several matters, including endorsement requests from transport groups and the proposed routes for the Tawang-Ambiong Loop via Buyagan and via Km. 5.
Atty. Marianne Reina Dumpayan, OIC-Chief Transportation Development Officer of DOTr-CAR and LTFRB, sat alongside the mayor to provide regulatory clarifications on behalf of the agency.
Meanwhile, LTMPS Traffic Section Chief PCPT Mark Botangen updated on daily traffic monitoring, featuring the four drones placed in high-traffic zones across the valley that are broadcasted via Facebook Live during rush hours.
Apart from this, 90 to 100 personnel are deployed daily to ensure smooth traffic flow.
During the meeting, a transport cooperative representative proposed the establishment of a taxi stand and the mayor subsequently directed the LTMPS to conduct a feasibility study.
Mayor Awingan also suggested that the DPWH prioritize sidewalks and pedestrian lane projects in the coming years to encourage walking among residents while helping reduce the volume of vehicles on the road.
Key officials, including Planning Unit Director Melvin John Aromin of Benguet State University, LTO-Benguet Acting Chief Engr. Norman Dupli, and Engr. Henry Apostol from DPWH Benguet First District Engineering Office joined the meeting to help bolster traffic safety and efficiency.
