The Municipality of La Trinidad is taking a significant step towards modernizing its civil registration services following a meeting between the Municipal Mayor and key officials from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

La Trinidad Mayor Roderick C. Awingan recently received PSA representatives, including Tagaban Aquino, Jovieline Ambojnon, and Danilo Ventura, who discussed the operationalization and use of the Administrative Petition for Correction of Automated System (APCAS) within the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of La Trinidad, Benguet.

The meeting, held under the supervision of LCRO Kevin Cabading, signals the local government unit's commitment to adopting an online digital platform designed to streamline and expedite the process of correcting clerical errors and entries in civil registry documents.

The PSA's APCAS system is set to revolutionize the slow, paper-based process of correcting clerical errors in civil documents (birth, marriage, death certificates). The traditional method, which involves months of sending hard copies between the LCRO, Provincial, and Central PSA offices, is replaced. APCAS moves the process online, enabling digital validation and instant forwarding of soft copies for final review. This shift significantly cuts processing time, making the Local Civil Registry services more efficient and responsive, and supports the national goal of an agile Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) System.

The collaboration between the Mayor’s office and the PSA officials highlights a shared vision to improve public service delivery and ensures that the residents of La Trinidad can access correct and complete civil registry documents with greater ease and speed.

LCRO Kevin Cabading and his staff are expected to work closely with the PSA team to ensure a smooth transition and full utilization of the APCAS system, ultimately benefiting every constituent who requires correction or amendment of their vital documents.
