The municipal government of La Trinidad in close coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development-CAR ramped up its efforts to aid 1,300 PUV drivers through the distribution of Family Food Packs (FFPs) at the municipal gym from April 14 to 15, 2026.

Ensuring a transparent and efficient process Mayor Roderick Awingan together with Municipal Administrator Atty. Franco Bawang Jr., Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño, and Legal Officer Atty. Victor Singa Jr. supervised the distribution to authorized representatives of each transport group.

A total of 12 transportation groups received food packs including:

  • Baguio-Tomay Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association (BATJODA)

  • Benguet Operators and Drivers Association Transport Multipurpose Cooperative (BODA-MPC)

  • Baguio-Pico-Puguis-Wangal-Strawberry Farm Transport Cooperative (BPPWSFTC)

  • Pico-Puguis Transport Cooperative (PPTC)

  • Benguet State University and Community Multipurpose Cooperative (BSUCMPC)

  • Baguio -Trinidad-Tomay Shilan Operators and Drivers Transport Corporation (BTTS)

  • Buyagan Express Transport Cooperative (BETC)

  • B3ngu3t Legendary Transport Corporation (BLTC)

  • Town Transport Operator and Driver’s Association (TTODA)

  • Dangwa Square Garage

  • Tabanda Garage

  • Pines Park Garage

The food pack contains 6kg of rice, 4 cans of tuna, 2 cans of sardines, 4 cans of corned beef, 5 sachets of coffe, and 5 sachets of soup powder or choco malt as indicated on the packaging.

Following the cancellation of the public consultation on the special fare increase due to national directives, the Sangguniang Bayan members has passed a resolution expressing strong support for the voluntary fare hike which sets the minimum at ₱20 for the first four kilometers and additional ₱2 for each succeeding kilometer, in light of the staggering increase of fuel prices.

The local government aims to extend the assistance to taxi drivers and farmers, as well as those in the tourism sector as discussed during a meeting with Mayor Awingan and Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan, earlier today.

The administration seeks the public’s continuous patience as the relief must undergo strict liquidation processes as required by DSWD-CAR.

La Trinidad assures the gradual but consistent distribution of food packages to the groups that need it the most.
