Revving up its efforts to capacitate the grassroots, the municipal government of La Trinidad and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-Benguet Provincial Office teamed up on April 15, to formally recognize 48 individuals, who have completed the Community-Based Skills Training program.
A diverse group consisting of Alternative Learning System (ALS) students, solo parents, and Out-of-School Youth (OSY), they have completed specialized courses in Nail Care, Basic Hair Cutting, and Meat Processing.
Mayor Roderick Awingan challenged the graduates to maximize their newly acquired competencies for life-long learning.
Supporting this sentiment, TESDA Benguet Acting Provincial Director Arlene Cadalig and Committee on Trade and Industry, and Labor and Livelihood Councilor Nestor Fongwan Jr. encouraged the group to utilize the training as a stepping stone toward sustainable entrepreneurship.
Trainers Arnel Parocha, Minda Coga-ay, Lydevia Diwan, and Daisy Yan whose mentorship and presence underscored the programβs successful accomplishment.
In a grateful response, the graduates said that their experiences have made a meaningful impact on their lives and despite their failures they managed to push through and complete the course.
Looking forward, TESDA Benguet staff Chienie Grace Sarol, shared that the agency looks forward to future partnerships with the local government with future programs specifically designed to cater Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
