Four BS Psychology students from Benguet State University officially turned over their undergraduate thesis to the Mayor’s Office earlier today, May 11, 2026, which zeroed in on a local sociocultural phenomenon.

Titled “Kantyaw: The Emotional Toll of Teasing Among Baak Men in La Trinidad, Benguet”, the study looked into the lived experiences of baak (unmarried) men residents of La Trinidad, and how they navigate their emotional responses to kantyaw (teasing).

Researchers Erezzy Cawilan, Yosha Belle Delenela, Keith Felipe, and Marivic Anne Nierva underscored that their findings call for a broader social discourse, reliable support systems for unmarried men and further research on unmarried women to better comprehend its implications on gender.

Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño, on behalf of Mayor Roderick Awingan, received the physical copy and congratulated the researchers for the accomplishment and the group’s contribution to the locality’s data.
