IS THE GROUND SINKING?

La Trinidad’s disaster management and engineering officials want a definite answer to this query for residents of sitio Duacan, barangay Alno, who have recently expressed growing concerns that their area is slowly sinking.

Fissures are now visible on the ground and these have sparked fears of ground settling or subsidence.

Punong Barangay Junie Puroc today led mayor Roderick Awingan, Yoshio Labi (MDRRMO), Charles Tayaban (OBO), Pol. Lt Col. Zacarias Dausen (LTMPS), Edward Juanito (SB secretary) and councilors Horacio Ramos Jr. and Jayson Dangwa to the area and showed the vast tract of land that is accordingly sinking slowly by the day.

Awingan immediately directed the MDRRMO to communicate with the Mines and Geo Sciences Bureau (MGB) for an urgent technical evaluation.

As a precautionary measure, Awingan asked the MDRRMO to install warning signs.
