Mayor Roderick Awingan successfully facilitated a pivotal meeting of the Municipal Council for the Protection of Children (MCPC) this week, resulting in the official approval of two major frameworks: the Local Development Plan for Children (LDPC) and the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Plan (CLJIP) for 2026–2028.
These strategic documents outline the municipality’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of the youth, ensuring that local resources are systematically allocated toward healthcare, inclusive education, and the active participation of children in community building over the next three years.
The approved Local Development Plan for Children (LDPC) focuses on a holistic approach to child survival and development, while the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Plan (CLJIP) specifically addresses the needs of Children at Risk (CAR) and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL). The council emphasized restorative justice and community-based programs designed to provide vulnerable youth with counseling, skills training, and rehabilitation. These initiatives aim to reduce delinquency by addressing the root causes of social issues and providing a supportive environment for reintegration.
By institutionalizing these plans for 2026 through 2028, the local government reinforces its dedication to proactive governance and long-term social protection. The MCPC will now move forward with the implementation phase, coordinating with various barangays and stakeholders to translate these policy goals into tangible benefits for every child in the valley.
