LA TRINIDAD CONCLUDES DRRM BOOTCAMP FOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH

Finishing strong in celebration of Disaster Resilience Month, the La Trinidad Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) wrapped up its 4th DRRM Bootcamp on July 31 at the municipal gymnasium.

A total of 60 students from the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), San Jose School of La Trinidad, and the La Trinidad Nazarene Learners Center engaged in hands-on basic fire fighting, first aid, ambulance transport, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

They were also oriented on topics such as cyberbullying, the Safe Spaces Act, fire truck mechanics, Go Bag preparation, Family Preparedness Plan and mental health.

Mayor Roderick Awingan and Councilor Teddy Walang both asserted that a student’s main duty is to go to school, encouraging them to prioritize learning as much as they can within the classroom and in training opportunities like this.

This year’s edition is the first time that high school students participated as previous bootcamps were prepared for preschool and elementary pupils.
